South County, Rhode Island, isn’t necessarily known for its nightlife, as the beaches, restaurants, and weather give visitors more than enough reason to return year after year.
However, there are definitely some spots to check out if you’re looking for something to do once the sun goes down.
Narragansett is one of the region’s most popular vacation destinations, with many guests coming to check out Narragansett Town Beach, Point Judith, and The Towers. The town also has a bit of nightlife, especially if you’re into having a few drinks in a relaxing environment.
Here’s a quick overview of the nightlife you’ll have available near your Narragansett vacation rental.
Bon Vue
Bon Vue is a must-visit when vacationing in Narragansett because it offers the quintessential Rhode Island nightlife experience. This venue features a rooftop patio overlooking the ocean, an indoor sports bar, and a summer entertainment schedule that will never leave you bored, making it one of Narragansett’s go-to spots.
This pub-style location also has a great menu with sandwiches, seafood, pasta, snacks, dozens of different beers and wines, and pitchers of sangria if you arrive as a group.
Whether you’re looking for a quick meal at a great price or the chance to dance the night away with a live band, Bon Vue has you covered.
PJ’s Pub
It’s a far different experience at PJ’s Pub, as this venue is more of a restaurant than a party spot. However, the food at PJ’s is great, and the kitchen is open late, making it an excellent location to head once the sun goes down.
PJ’s Pub has a full bar with an extensive wine list and is a staple for many locals because of its delicious Italian cuisine.
The Tavern
One of Narragansett’s newest nighttime spots is called The Tavern, a lively pub known for its burgers, beers, and pool tables. The bar isn’t overly large, but it’s open until 1:00 AM on most nights and also features drink specials.
The Tavern is a great spot to watch the game or to stop for a drink or two after dinner on your way back to your South County vacation rental.
Pancho O’Malleys
Pancho O’Malleys shares a parking lot with The Tavern, making it possible to visit both spots in a single evening. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Pancho O’Malleys is that it feels like an Irish pub, although you’ll quickly change your tune once you see the menu.
You see, Pancho O’Malleys serves Mexican food, including quesadillas, nachos, tacos, and a tortilla pizza. However, you can still get Irish-style libations at the venue and enjoy the occasional evening filled with live music and drink specials.
Although Pancho O’Malleys sounds like a strange concept, it definitely works and is an excellent place to visit during your night on the town.
The Coast Guard House
If you go out just once while vacationing in Narragansett, the Coast Guard House should be a significant part of your evening. This restaurant was once a United States Life Saving Service headquarters but has been a dining establishment serving fresh seafood and other dishes since 1940.

The restaurant has a main level with indoor and outdoor dining, an outdoor deck with dining pods in the winter, and the Anchor Room, which offers a more contemporary dining atmosphere.
No matter where you eat at the Coast Guard House, you’ll have access to the raw bar and the rest of their extensive seafood menu, burgers, pasta, steak, chicken, salads, and sides. There’s also an incredible wine list, dozens of beer options, and specialty cocktails created by the restaurant’s mixologists.
The Coast Guard House remains open late in the summer, too, so you can take your time, enjoy the view, and make a night of it.
Another Reason to Vacation in Rhode Island
Although coastal Rhode Island doesn’t have the late-night hot spots you’d find in New York or Boston, towns like Narragansett have enough to keep you interested while vacationing in the region. There are plenty of venues with great food, drinks, and live music, making it easy to plan a night out.
Narragansett is known for its beaches and dining, but these nightlife options mean you can head back out after a day in the sun to enjoy the town a little more.
