South County Food Truck Festivals in 2024

There’s something special about ordering from a food truck. These mobile restaurants have exploded in popularity over the past few years because they offer the rare opportunity to enjoy high-quality cuisine in a park or other outdoor setting, which is especially attractive in a location as beautiful as South County, Rhode Island.

Coastal Rhode Island will welcome multiple food truck festivals and events in 2024, with each providing access to different restaurants. If you happen to be in the area during one of these events, it’s an excellent way to spend an evening.

Here’s a look at some food truck festivals and events coming to South County in the spring and summer of 2024.

Charlestown Craves Food Truck Nights

The second annual Charlestown Craves Food Truck Nights festival will occur on May 9 and June 6, 2024, at Ninigret Park. This event will welcome more than a dozen food trucks each night, in addition to local beer and wine from Trinity Brewhouse. Admission is free, as you’ll only pay for what you order from the trucks.

The food at Charlestown Craves Food Truck Nights is only part of the story, though, as there’s also plenty of on-site entertainment. There will be live music all evening long, so you can dance the night away with a drink in your hand in one of South County’s most scenic parks.

Charlestown Craves Food Truck Nights run from 5:00 until 8:00 PM both nights and are sure to be one of the most memorable springtime events in 2024.

Food Truck Eats & Beats at Sons of Liberty

Sons of Liberty is a distillery in South Kingstown that makes malt whiskey, flavored whiskey, gin, and vodka. It’s a popular local destination with live music, trivia, and some of the tastiest cocktails you’ll ever try.

The distillery also hosts food trucks throughout the spring and summer with its Food Truck Eats & Beats at Sons of Liberty events. The gist is that food trucks from five or six local restaurants will show up at the distillery on April 21, May 25, June 16, July 14, and August 11, and a party will ensue.

There will be live music, plenty of drinks, and an all-around festive atmosphere throughout the day. If you aren’t into cocktails, you can grab a beer from Chair 2 or a sangria, as well, giving you all kinds of choices.

Food Truck Eats & Beats at Sons of Liberty runs from 11:30 AM until 3:00 PM for all Sunday events and 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM for the May 25 Saturday festival.

Food Truck Fridays at Mulligan’s Island

It’ll be a bit of a drive from your South County vacation rental, but Food Truck Fridays at Mulligan’s Island in Cranston, RI, are cool events held every Friday from May through October. If you aren’t in South County for any of the local food truck festivals, you can drive to Cranston in about half an hour to check out the festivities.

Mulligan’s Island is a family fun center with a 36-hole mini golf course, a driving range, an 18-hole pitch and putt course, and batting cages. Thanks to Food Truck Fridays, it also turns into a food truck destination and live music venue in the spring and summer.

This event brings out 20 or more food trucks weekly, has a mobile beer garden, and features music by local band the Commotion. It’s fun for the entire family and runs from 4:30 until 8:30 PM, giving you more than enough time to check it out.

Food Truck Friday at Roger Williams Park Carousel Village

Another food truck option outside of South County is Food Truck Friday at Roger Williams Park Carousel Village. This park is about half an hour from the heart of South Kingstown, making it possible to pop up for an evening of food trucks and music.

Food Truck Friday runs from April 19 until September 27, so you’ll have plenty of time to visit this spring and summer. Every Friday brings at least 15 food trucks, and the rotation is constantly changing, ensuring there’s variety every time you visit.

In addition to the food trucks, there’s live music, Hasbro’s Boundless Playground, and the famous carousel, which costs $2 per person to ride. You can also grab a beer or wine from Trinity Brewhouse or find a spot at a picnic table to relax the night away.

Plenty of Food to Go Around

If you love food trucks, live music, parks, and drinks, South County and its surrounding areas have you covered this spring and summer. These events are in addition to the everyday food trucks that make their homes in the region, so you’ll have all the chances you need to check out some unique dining options on the Rhode Island shoreline.
