When visiting South County during the holidays, you might want to check out a party. Fortunately, there are a few New Year’s Eve events happening in the region, ensuring you can ring in 2024 in style.
These events vary in cost, but all of them are sure to provide an outstanding evening of entertainment, and there’s sure to be something close to your vacation rental, as well. Here’s a look at some New Year’s parties you can check out on the last day of 2023.
New Year’s Eve Ball at Ocean House
Ocean House in Watch Hill always has something going on during the holidays. This event venue is known for its lavish dinners, and 2023 won’t be any different thanks to its annual New Year’s Eve Ball.

This year’s event starts at 8:00 PM and runs until about 12:30 AM. It includes a buffet dinner with dishes from the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans, in addition to the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas and the Gulf of Mexico. If you love seafood, this dinner might be one of the best you’ve ever experienced.
After you eat, you can take advantage of the open bar and enjoy the music of Soul Factory in the ballroom.
This black-tie event costs $195 per person, but it’s sure to provide a New Year’s Eve experience like no other.
New Year’s Eve Party at Ocean Mist
If you’re looking for something a little more laidback on New Year’s Eve, Ocean Mist in Matunuck has you covered. At 9:00 PM on December 31, Badfish, a Sublime cover band, will take the stage and continue playing into the early hours of the morning.
The event will also feature a performance by Crooked Coast and promises to be a memorable evening. Tickets are $35 each plus fees, and you’ll need to buy yours in advance to guarantee entry.
Mystic Dead at the Knickerbocker Music Center
The Knickerbocker Music Center in Westerly is one of South County’s top concert venues, and on New Year’s Eve 2023, it will host Grateful Dead cover band Mystic Dead with special guest Doc Westchesterson.
This group is based out of Mystic, Connecticut and has been performing Grateful Dead music since 2018. Westchesterson is an innovator in the yacht rock hip-hop genre and plays many of Bob Dylan’s best-known songs during his performances.
Tickets to this once-in-a-lifetime show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The show kicks off at 8:00 PM, but you’ll want to get there early because the event doesn’t have assigned seating.
Neal and the Vipers New Year’s Eve Party
As is tradition at the Courthouse Center for the Arts, Neal and the Vipers will host a New Year’s party. This event will feature live music, appetizers, and a champagne toast, and there’s a full on-site bar if you want to enjoy a few drinks during the performance.
The Courthouse Center for the Arts is conveniently located in South Kingstown, not far from the University of Rhode Island. Tickets are $25.50 for general admission and $28 for a seat at a table at the venue. The concert starts at 9:00 PM and runs through midnight.
New Year’s Eve Dance Party with The Dick Clarks
The Pump House Music Works in South Kingstown is a relatively new concert venue that’s quickly making a name for itself. It’s located just outside of downtown Wakefield-Peacedale and on New Year’s Eve 2023, it will host a dance party with local band The Dick Clarks.
The music at this party starts at 8:00 PM and continues through midnight, and there will be a complimentary champagne toast, as well. Free food and desserts will be available, and the venue has a full bar. Tickets are just $20 for what is sure to be a highly memorable evening in South County.
