Watch Hill is a quaint coastal village at the southernmost tip of Rhode Island. Known for its beautiful beaches, boating, dining and shopping, it has been a prominent resort town since the 19th century and is rich in history.
There are three pristine beaches that make Watch Hill a special place for vacationers.
Napatree Beach is 1.5 miles of white sandy beach and gentle water. Enjoy an early morning walk to Napatree Point taking in views of the Watch Hill Lighthouse while watching for unique species of birds as Napatree is also a conservation area.
East Beach is only a short walk from the village. It is less crowded and stretches for miles for enjoying long beach walks. East Beach is perfect for spending the day reading, sunbathing and riding the surf.

The Watch Hill Carousel Beach is full of activity in the summer. There are daily or weekly fees which include amenities at the beach and the services of a lifeguard. The village location is very convenient if you need a break from the beach. At the entrance to the beach is the Watch Hill Merry-Go-Round. It is the oldest continuously operating flying horse carousel in the United States. St Clair Annex is steps from the beach. It is family owned and has been serving breakfast, lunch and homemade ice cream for 125 years.
For your culinary desires Watch Hill has many restaurants that will satisfy your palate.
The iconic Forbes Five Star Ocean House dates back to the 1800’s and was meticulously restored in 2010. The Ocean House features fine dining as well as casual dining on the Veranda and the Seaside Terrace. Not to be missed are the traditional New England Lobster Boils that are offered in the summer on the beach under stars.
The Olympia Tea Room is a 100 year old family owned establishment known for its elegantly simple meals, extensive wine list and al fresco dining while watching magnificent sunsets over the bay.
Sift is a French-focused bakery located right in the middle of the village. The shop features pastries and sweet and savory delights. Owner Chef Adam Young competed and won the Food Networks title of “Best Baker in America.”
Bay Street Deli offers specialty sandwiches as well as hot and cold lobster rolls. It’s a great place to stop and pick-up lunch to bring to the beach or out on your boat.
There are many specialty boutiques that line the streets in the village. There is something for everyone with a variety of stores specializing in clothing, coastal home decor, nautical sea bags and more.

Westerly State Airport welcomes smaller planes and private jets. New England Airlines offers daily service between Westerly and Block Island.
For easy commuting to New York and Boston the Amtrak Train station is conveniently located in downtown Westerly.
